- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Peel and cube the butternut squash into uniform pieces.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the butternut squash, diced gala apples, ground cinnamon, vanilla extract, and brown sugar or honey. Mix well.
- Add a pinch of salt and black pepper to the mixture and stir again to ensure even distribution.
- Transfer the mixture to a baking dish and dot the top with small pieces of butter. Cover and bake for 15 minutes.
- After 15 minutes, remove the lid and add golden raisins, dried cranberries, and chopped nuts. Toss to combine.
- Bake uncovered for another 15 minutes, until the top is golden brown and the squash is tender.
- Remove from the oven, let cool slightly, and stir gently before serving.
