Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Peel and cube the butternut squash into uniform pieces.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the butternut squash, diced gala apples, ground cinnamon, vanilla extract, and brown sugar or honey. Mix well.
  3. Add a pinch of salt and black pepper to the mixture and stir again to ensure even distribution.
  4. Transfer the mixture to a baking dish and dot the top with small pieces of butter. Cover and bake for 15 minutes.
  5. After 15 minutes, remove the lid and add golden raisins, dried cranberries, and chopped nuts. Toss to combine.
  6. Bake uncovered for another 15 minutes, until the top is golden brown and the squash is tender.
  7. Remove from the oven, let cool slightly, and stir gently before serving.
