Step-by-Step Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 15x10-inch jelly roll pan.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the sugar, sour cream, melted butter, and eggs until smooth and frothy.
- Stir in the mashed bananas and vanilla extract until well combined.
- Gently combine the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt into the wet mixture. Stir until just blended.
- If using walnuts, fold them into the batter now. Spread the batter in the greased pan.
- Bake for 20–25 minutes or until the edges are golden and a toothpick comes out clean.
- Prepare the frosting by browning butter in a saucepan over medium heat until golden and nutty.
- Whisk in powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and enough milk for a smooth consistency.
- Spread the brown butter frosting over warm brownies right after they come out of the oven.
- Let the brownies cool in the pan for about 30 minutes before slicing into bars.

Notes
Best when using overripe bananas. Avoid overbaking for moist brownies. Frost while warm for the best flavor.
