Steps
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Gather all your ingredients and equipment, including a large skillet and baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef, chopped onions, and minced garlic. Cook for 6-8 minutes until the beef is fully browned, then drain excess grease.
- Stir in your seasonings, tomato sauce, and jalapeños into the browned mixture. Allow it to simmer for 15 minutes.
- Roll out your pie crust on a floured surface and cut out 4-inch circles.
- Place a small amount of cheese and about 1/4 cup of beef mixture on half of the circle. Dampen edges, fold, and use a fork to seal.
- Whisk an egg with a teaspoon of water and brush it on the sealed empanadas.
- Bake for 15 minutes, or until golden brown and flaky.
- Let them cool slightly on a wire rack before serving warm.
