Method
 

Steps
  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Gather all your ingredients and equipment, including a large skillet and baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef, chopped onions, and minced garlic. Cook for 6-8 minutes until the beef is fully browned, then drain excess grease.
  3. Stir in your seasonings, tomato sauce, and jalapeños into the browned mixture. Allow it to simmer for 15 minutes.
  4. Roll out your pie crust on a floured surface and cut out 4-inch circles.
  5. Place a small amount of cheese and about 1/4 cup of beef mixture on half of the circle. Dampen edges, fold, and use a fork to seal.
  6. Whisk an egg with a teaspoon of water and brush it on the sealed empanadas.
  7. Bake for 15 minutes, or until golden brown and flaky.
  8. Let them cool slightly on a wire rack before serving warm.
