Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a large skillet, heat over medium-high heat and add the ground beef, cooking for 5–7 minutes until browned and crumbly.
  2. Carefully drain any excess fat. Add diced onions to the skillet and cook for 2–3 minutes until they turn translucent.
  3. Stir in the tomato sauce and diced tomatoes, followed by the Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Simmer for about 5 minutes.
  4. Bring a pot of water to a boil. Add the elbow macaroni and cook until al dente, about 7–9 minutes. Drain and set aside.
  5. In a large bowl, combine the drained macaroni, beef mixture, cheddar cheese, mozzarella cheese, and sour cream. Stir until well mixed.
  6. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a baking dish and layer half of the mixture, sprinkle cheddar cheese, then add the remaining mixture.
  7. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 25–30 minutes until bubbling. Remove foil and bake for an additional 10–15 minutes.
  8. Let cool for 5 minutes, then cut into portions and serve.
