Ingredients
  

For the Patties
  • 1 pound Ground Beef You can substitute with ground turkey.
  • 1 cup Breadcrumbs Panko recommended for extra crispiness.
  • 1 large Egg Can be replaced with a flax egg.
  • 1 small Grated Onion Or use onion powder.
  • 2 cloves Garlic Fresh or powder.
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Black Pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Paprika Cayenne can be substituted for heat.
For the Gravy
  • 2 tablespoons Butter Or use olive oil.
  • 1 quarter cup Gluten-free flour can be used.
  • 2 cups Beef Broth Chicken broth can be used in a pinch.
  • 1 cup Heavy Cream Half-and-half can be used.
  • 1 teaspoon Onion Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder
For the Topping
  • 1 cup Mozzarella Cheese
  • 1 cup Cheddar Cheese Any melting cheese can be used.
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh Parsley Optional garnish.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, grated onion, garlic, salt, pepper, and paprika.
  3. Shape the mixture into 4 to 6 equal-sized patties, about ¾ inch thick.
  4. Heat a skillet over medium-high and lightly grease. Sear the patties for 2 to 3 minutes on each side until browned.
  5. In the same skillet, melt butter, whisk in flour to create a roux, and cook for 1 minute.
  6. Gradually whisk in beef broth and then heavy cream. Add onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper; simmer for 3 to 5 minutes until thickened.
  7. Place the seared patties in the prepared dish and pour the gravy over them. Top with mozzarella and cheddar cheese.
  8. Bake uncovered for 25 to 30 minutes until the cheese is golden and bubbly.
  9. Let the casserole rest for a few minutes before serving and garnish with fresh parsley.
