Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a large saucepan, mix 1 cup of sugar, 1 cup of fresh orange juice, and 1 cup of water over medium heat. Stir until the sugar dissolves, about 3–5 minutes.
  2. Add 12 ounces of fresh cranberries, 1/4 teaspoon of salt, a cinnamon stick, and the peel of one orange. Stir gently to distribute evenly.
  3. Increase heat to bring the mixture to a simmer. Stir occasionally for about 10 minutes, until the cranberries burst and the sauce thickens.
  4. If desired, scoop out a few whole cranberries before they burst and set aside to stir back in for texture.
  5. Remove from heat and let cool for at least 30 minutes before transferring to a container and refrigerating.
