Method
 

Preparation Steps
  1. In a large bowl, combine warm water and sugar, stirring gently. Sprinkle active dry yeast over and let it sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Add all-purpose flour, kosher salt, and olive oil to the yeast mixture. Mix with a wooden spoon until sticky dough forms.
  3. Cover the bowl with a towel and let the dough rise in a warm place for about 1 to 1.5 hours until doubled in size.
  4. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C) and drizzle olive oil in a baking pan.
  5. Gently punch down the risen dough, transfer to the baking pan, and stretch into shape. Make dimples with fingertips.
  6. Sprinkle minced garlic, grated Parmesan cheese, and optional herbs on the dough, finishing with flaky sea salt.
  7. Cover and let rise for another 20-30 minutes while oven is preheating.
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown and crisp.
  9. Cool in the pan for at least 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
