For the Fish
  • 1 lb Boneless White Fish (cod, haddock, or basa)
  • 2 tbsp Lemon Juice Fresh
For the Spice Mix
  • 1 tbsp Smoked Paprika
  • 1 tbsp Chili Powder Adjust to taste
  • 1 tsp Red Pepper Flakes Use sparingly for milder nuggets
  • 1 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1 tsp Onion Powder
  • 1 tsp Dried Oregano
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 0.5 tsp Black Pepper
For the Coating
  • 1 cup All-Purpose Flour Or gluten-free flour
  • 1 large Egg Beaten
  • 2 tbsp Milk Or non-dairy milk
  • 1 cup Panko Breadcrumbs
For Frying
  • 0.5 cup Neutral Oil Vegetable or canola oil

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Cut the boneless white fish into pieces about 1¼ × 1½ inches and pat dry.
  2. Combine the spice mix with lemon juice and coat the fish. Marinate for 10-15 minutes.
  3. Set up coating stations with flour, egg wash, and panko breadcrumbs.
  4. Coat each marinated fish piece in flour, then egg wash, and lastly in panko breadcrumbs.
  5. Heat oil in a frying pan to 350°F (175°C) and fry nuggets in batches for 3-4 minutes on each side.
  6. Transfer fried nuggets to a wire rack over a baking sheet to drain excess oil.
