Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Prepare the cheesecake layer by mixing cream cheese and granulated sugar until smooth, then fold in flour, eggs, sour cream, heavy cream, and vanilla. Pour into a springform pan and refrigerate overnight.
  2. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Prepare the white cake mix as per the package instructions, then divide into three bowls. Color one red, one blue, and leave one uncolored.
  3. Pour the cake batters into greased and floured 9-inch round pans and bake for 25-30 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean. Let them cool.
  4. Transfer cooled cake layers to wire racks and allow to cool completely. Ensure the cheesecake layer remains chilled.
  5. Assemble the cake by placing the blue layer on a serving platter, topping with cheesecake, the red layer, and repeating until the cheesecake is sandwiched between the layers.
  6. Prepare frosting by mixing softened butter with powdered sugar and milk or heavy cream until fluffy. Coat the assembled cake with frosting.
  7. Decorate with piped frosting and sprinkles, chill briefly before serving.
