- In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, crumbled saltine crackers, 1 cup of milk, Italian herbs, onion powder, garlic powder, cayenne (if using), and salt and pepper. Mix thoroughly.
- Form the mixture into 8 patties, about ½ inch thick.
- Brown the patties in a skillet over medium-high heat for about 2-3 minutes on each side.
- Transfer the browned patties to the prepared baking dish in a single layer.
- In a bowl, whisk together the condensed cream of mushroom soup and 1 cup of milk, then pour over the patties.
- Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes.
