Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Prepare the cake pans by greasing and lining with parchment paper.
  2. Sift together the dry ingredients: flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  3. Cream the butter and sugar together in a stand mixer until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
  4. Add egg whites one at a time and mix thoroughly. Then add vanilla paste and mix until smooth.
  5. Gradually add one-third of the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with sour cream and milk. Mix gently.
  6. Divide the batter among the prepared pans and bake for 22-28 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Let the cake layers cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
  8. Prepare the frosting by beating cream cheese and softened butter until smooth. Gradually add powdered sugar and fold in strawberry puree.
  9. Once cooled, level the cake layers if needed. Assemble with frosting between layers and on top.
  10. Decorate with fresh strawberries or additional frosting swirls. Serve and enjoy!
