  • 10 cups large bakery croissants packed
  • 2 cups berries mix of raspberries, blueberries, strawberries
  • 6 large eggs at room temperature
  • 2 cups half and half homemade can be substituted
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
Custard
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon lemon zest
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract high-quality recommended
Glaze
  • 4 oz cream cheese softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Begin by greasing a 9x13-inch baking dish with nonstick spray.
  2. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and toast cubed croissants for 7-10 minutes.
  3. In a large bowl, beat together cream cheese and sugar until smooth. Add eggs, half and half, lemon juice, zest, and salt; whisk until creamy.
  4. Layer half of the croissants in the dish, scatter half of the berries, and pour half the custard over. Repeat layers.
  5. Cover and refrigerate overnight to allow flavors to meld.
  6. Bake for 30 minutes covered with foil, then remove foil and bake for another 15 minutes until puffed and golden.
  7. Combine cream cheese, powdered sugar, lemon juice, and vanilla to prepare the glaze while casserole bakes.
  8. Allow the casserole to cool slightly, drizzle with the glaze, slice, and serve warm.
