Method
 

Step‑by‑Step Instructions
  1. Pat the steaks dry and season with salt, pepper, thyme, and rosemary. Sear steaks in olive oil for 3-4 minutes per side.
  2. Add butter and minced garlic to the skillet, stirring for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  3. Peel and slice potatoes into 1/8-inch rounds. Toss with half of the garlic butter, adding more seasoning to taste.
  4. Layer half of the potatoes in a baking dish, then add sliced steak and half of the cheese. Top with remaining potatoes, garlic butter, and cheese.
  5. Preheat oven to 375°F. Cover with foil and bake for 40 minutes. Remove foil and bake for another 15 minutes until golden and bubbly.
  6. Let the casserole rest for 5-10 minutes before serving to allow flavors to meld.
