Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine softened cream cheese and powdered sugar and beat until smooth, optionally adding zest.
  3. Unfold the thawed puff pastry and roll it out gently if necessary.
  4. Slice 1-inch strips along each side of the pastry, leaving the center intact.
  5. Spread the cream cheese filling in the center and dollop strawberry jam on top.
  6. Fold the pastry strips over the filling in a crisscross pattern.
  7. Brush the pastry with milk and sprinkle turbinado sugar on top.
  8. Bake the danish in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Allow the danish to cool on the baking sheet for about 15 minutes.
  10. Optionally, prepare a glaze by mixing powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract and drizzle over cooled danish.
