Ingredients

For the Cookie Base
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour Provides structure; spoon and sweep for accuracy.
  • ¾ cup natural unsweetened cocoa powder Gives the cookies their deep, chocolatey flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda Ensures a soft and chewy texture.
  • ½ teaspoon salt Balances sweetness and enhances flavor.
  • ½ cup unsalted butter Key for tenderness; make sure it's soft but not melted.
  • 1 cup brown sugar Adds chewiness and depth with a hint of molasses.
  • ½ cup granulated sugar Boosts sweetness and assists in spreading.
  • 1 large large egg Acts as a binder, uniting all ingredients.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Enhances the overall flavor profile.
For the Extra Goodness
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips Creates pockets of melted chocolate throughout; mini chips can distribute better.
  • 1 cup chopped caramel squares Creates luxurious puddles of gooeyness; cut into smaller pieces for easier melting.
