  • 2 medium Onions red or yellow for best flavor
  • 1 cup Chickpea Flour (Besan) for crispy batter
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin customize to taste
  • 1 teaspoon Turmeric customize to taste
  • 1 cup Oil for frying, vegetable oil or ghee
  • 1/2 cup Water add gradually for batter consistency

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Slice the onions thinly to about 1/8 inch and place them in a mixing bowl.
  2. Sprinkle chickpea flour and spices over the onions, mixing well to coat.
  3. Add water gradually until you reach a thick batter consistency.
  4. Heat oil in a deep pan to about 350°F (175°C) and test with a small spoonful of batter.
  5. Drop spoonfuls of batter-coated onions into the hot oil and fry for 4 to 5 minutes.
  6. Remove bhajis from oil, drain on paper towels, and serve hot.
