Method
 

Meat Sauce Preparation
  1. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add ground beef and Italian sausage, browning until cooked, approximately 5-7 minutes.
  2. Stir in diced onion and sauté until soft, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Mix in minced garlic, crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, tomato paste, and seasonings. Simmer uncovered for 25-30 minutes.
Noodle Cooking
  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a rolling boil. Add lasagna noodles and cook until al dente, about 8-10 minutes.
  2. Drain the noodles and lay them flat to prevent sticking.
Cheese Filling Preparation
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, grated Parmesan cheese, shredded mozzarella cheese, salt, black pepper, and parsley if desired. Stir until creamy.
Lasagna Assembly
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Spread a thin layer of meat sauce in a 9x13 baking dish.
  2. Lay down lasagna noodles, followed by half of the cheese filling, and top with more meat sauce. Repeat layers, finishing with sauce and mozzarella cheese.
Baking
