Equipment

  • grill
  • medium bowl
  • spatula
  • toothpicks

Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your grill to medium-high heat, around 400°F (200°C), for about 10-15 minutes.
  2. In a medium bowl, mix together ¼ cup of pure maple syrup, 2 tablespoons of soy sauce, and freshly cracked black pepper to taste. Stir until well combined and set aside.
  3. Cut 4-6 slices of cooked bacon in half. Wrap each salmon fillet with the halved bacon pieces, covering the top completely. Secure with toothpicks if needed.
  4. Drizzle the marinade over the bacon-wrapped salmon fillets, ensuring even coating on all sides. Allow to marinate for 10-15 minutes, flipping halfway through.
  5. Place the fillets bacon-side down on the grill. Grill for 5-6 minutes, checking for caramelized crust and char marks on the bacon.
  6. Carefully flip the salmon fillets and grill for an additional 4-5 minutes until the salmon is opaque and flakes easily with a fork.
  7. Remove the salmon from the grill and let it rest for a couple of minutes. Sprinkle with chopped green onions and serve with lemon wedges.
