Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a large skillet, heat over medium heat for about 5 minutes. Add your ground beef (or chosen substitute) to the skillet, breaking it apart with a spatula. Cook for 6–8 minutes, stirring frequently, until browned.
  2. Carefully drain the excess fat from the skillet, leaving about a tablespoon for flavor. Return the skillet to medium heat.
  3. Add the chopped onions and bell peppers. Sauté for 4–5 minutes until onions are translucent and peppers are tender.
  4. Pour in the tomato sauce and Worcestershire sauce. Stir well and season with salt and pepper. Simmer for about 10 minutes while stirring occasionally.
  5. Melt a tablespoon of butter in a separate skillet over medium heat. Toast the buns cut side down for 2–3 minutes until golden brown.
