Step‑by‑Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Peel, core, and slice 3 to 4 apples, then toss them with 1/2 cup of brown sugar and 1 teaspoon of cinnamon.
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together 1/2 cup of unsalted butter and 1 cup of brown sugar until light and fluffy. Gradually add in 2 eggs, mixing well, then gently incorporate 1 ½ cups of flour and 2 teaspoons of baking powder until just combined.
  3. Lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking dish, spread half of the cake batter across the bottom, layer the prepared apple filling over it, and dollop the remaining batter on top.
  4. In a small bowl, combine 1/2 cup of chopped pecans, 1/2 cup of brown sugar, 1/2 cup of flour, and 1/4 cup of melted unsalted butter. Mix until crumbly, then sprinkle over the cake.
