Step‑By‑Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Gather your ingredients and prepare your baking dish.
  2. In a large skillet, cook ground beef and Italian sausage over medium heat until browned, about 8-10 minutes. Drain excess fat.
  3. Add diced onions and minced garlic to the skillet. Sauté for 3-4 minutes until onions are translucent.
  4. Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, sugar, dried basil, salt, and black pepper. Simmer for 30 minutes.
  5. In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, 2 cups mozzarella, and half the Parmesan. Mix well.
  6. Spread a thin layer of meat sauce in a baking dish, layer noodles, ricotta mixture, meat sauce, and mozzarella. Repeat until ingredients are used up.
  7. Sprinkle remaining mozzarella and Parmesan over the top layer of meat sauce.
  8. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes. Then uncover and bake for another 25 minutes until cheese is golden.
  9. Let the lasagna rest for 10-15 minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.
