- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Gather your ingredients and prepare your baking dish.
- In a large skillet, cook ground beef and Italian sausage over medium heat until browned, about 8-10 minutes. Drain excess fat.
- Add diced onions and minced garlic to the skillet. Sauté for 3-4 minutes until onions are translucent.
- Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, sugar, dried basil, salt, and black pepper. Simmer for 30 minutes.
- In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, 2 cups mozzarella, and half the Parmesan. Mix well.
- Spread a thin layer of meat sauce in a baking dish, layer noodles, ricotta mixture, meat sauce, and mozzarella. Repeat until ingredients are used up.
- Sprinkle remaining mozzarella and Parmesan over the top layer of meat sauce.
- Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes. Then uncover and bake for another 25 minutes until cheese is golden.
- Let the lasagna rest for 10-15 minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.
