  • 1/2 cup Molasses Dark molasses preferred
  • 1 large Onion Sautéed
Mac and Cheese
  • 8 ounces Elbow Macaroni Cooked until al dente
  • 2 cups Sharp Cheddar Shredded
  • 2 cups Milk Whole milk for creaminess
  • 1/4 cup Butter Melted
Cornbread
  • 1 cup Cornmeal Stone-ground preferred
  • 1/4 cup Honey For sweetness
  • 1 cup Buttermilk Substitute if needed
  • 1 tablespoon Baking Powder Ensure it's fresh
Vegetarian BBQ Options
  • 2 large Portobello Mushrooms Marinated
  • 1 can Jackfruit Cooked until tender
  • 4 ears Sweet Corn Grilled

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Finely shred cabbage and grate carrots for coleslaw. Whisk mayonnaise and apple cider vinegar together in a separate bowl, combine with vegetables and chill.
  2. Soak navy beans overnight, then simmer in fresh water until tender. Cook bacon and onion, mix into beans with molasses, and cook further.
  3. Cook elbow macaroni until al dente. Create a cheese sauce with butter, flour, milk, and cheese, combine with macaroni and bake.
  4. Mix cornmeal, baking powder, and salt; combine with whisked buttermilk, egg, and honey. Bake cornmeal mixture until golden.
  5. Prepare sweet corn by soaking, then grill until charred, brushing with butter and salt.
  6. For Portobello mushrooms, marinate and grill; sauté jackfruit with BBQ sauce until shredded.
