  • 1 cup All-Purpose Flour can substitute bread flour or gluten-free blend
  • 1 tsp Baking Powder check freshness by seeing if it fizzes with water
  • 1 tsp Salt any cooking salt will do
  • 2 tbsp Olive Oil can also use melted butter or avocado oil
For the Cheese Topping
  • 1 cup Shredded Cheese mozzarella for classic pull, cheddar for sharp bite, or vegan shreds
  • 1 tsp Garlic Powder optional; can swap for smoked paprika or chili flakes
  • 1 tbsp Dried Herbs optional; personalize with oregano or basil

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a medium mixing bowl, combine your sourdough discard, flour, baking powder, salt, and olive oil. Stir until clumping forms, then turn out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 1–2 minutes until smooth.
  2. Lightly flour your work surface again, then roll the dough into a rectangle about ¼-inch thick (around 10"x12"). Watch for sticking; add flour as needed.
  3. Transfer the rolled-out dough to a parchment-lined baking sheet. Evenly sprinkle shredded cheese and any optional herbs on top, pressing gently to adhere.
  4. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Once heated, bake for 15–18 minutes, rotating halfway for even cooking until golden and bubbly.
  5. After baking, let the breadsticks cool slightly, then slice while warm and serve with your favorite dips.
