Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 200°F (93°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Beat the egg whites on medium speed until frothy, about 2-3 minutes.
  3. Gently add cream of tartar and continue beating until soft peaks form, about 2 minutes.
  4. Gradually add granulated sugar, one spoonful at a time, while beating on high until stiff peaks form and the mixture is glossy, about 5-7 minutes.
  5. Fold in vanilla extract carefully to not deflate the meringue.
  6. Pipe the meringue onto the sugar cookie bases in a tree shape.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 1.5 to 2 hours until firm and dry to touch.
  8. Turn off the oven, leave cookies inside with door ajar for 1 hour to cool.
