Step-by-Step Instructions

  3. Mix thickening agent: whisk together vegetable broth and arrowroot until smooth in a small bowl.
  4. Combine sauce ingredients: add sesame oil, soy sauce, maple syrup, rice vinegar, and vegetable broth to skillet; heat until simmering.
  5. Thicken sauce: pour in arrowroot mixture from Step 3 and let simmer for 2-3 minutes until thickened.
  6. Add chickpeas to sauce: stir to coat well, cook for about 5 minutes.
  7. Let flavors meld: turn off heat and let sit for 5 minutes to enhance flavors.
