  • 2 tablespoons Tomato Paste
  • 2 cups Beef Broth low-sodium
  • 1 cup Red Wine or additional beef broth
  • 1 leaf Bay Leaf remove before serving
  • ¼ cup Parsley chopped, for garnish

Step‑by‑Step Instructions for Classic German Goulash
  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (163°C) and heat olive oil in a Dutch oven over medium heat. Add onions, sprinkle with salt, and sauté until golden.
  2. Add cubed beef chuck roast, season with black pepper, and brown for 5-10 minutes. Remove and set aside.
  3. Return onions to the pot, add green pepper, garlic, and tomatoes. Stir in paprika, marjoram, and caraway seeds. Cook for 3-4 minutes.
  4. Add tomato paste, beef broth, red wine, and bay leaf. Stir and bring to a gentle boil, scraping browned bits from the bottom.
  5. Cover the Dutch oven slightly and braise in the oven for 1.5 to 2 hours until beef is tender.
  6. Stir in parsley, taste and adjust seasoning. Serve over spätzle or mashed potatoes.
