Step-by-Step Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and prepare your baking pan by greasing a loaf pan or a baking dish.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork or turkey, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, French onion soup mix, milk, egg, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix thoroughly.
- Shape the meat mixture into a loaf and place it in the greased pan. Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
- In a skillet, melt unsalted butter over medium heat, add sliced onions and sugar, stirring occasionally, cook for about 10 minutes until caramelized.
- Sprinkle flour over the mixture, stir well, gradually add beef broth and Worcestershire sauce, and cook until thickened.
- Spread the onion glaze over the meatloaf and top with shredded cheese. Return to the oven for another 10-15 minutes until the cheese is melted.
- Let the meatloaf rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
