Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and prepare your baking pan by greasing a loaf pan or a baking dish.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork or turkey, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, French onion soup mix, milk, egg, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix thoroughly.
  3. Shape the meat mixture into a loaf and place it in the greased pan. Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
  4. In a skillet, melt unsalted butter over medium heat, add sliced onions and sugar, stirring occasionally, cook for about 10 minutes until caramelized.
  5. Sprinkle flour over the mixture, stir well, gradually add beef broth and Worcestershire sauce, and cook until thickened.
